Abstract
Nature-based Solutions are increasingly promoted as a way to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and other societal challenges. Yet, many promising initiatives struggle to move from ambition to implementation. This dissertation explores why financial barriers persist and how they can be overcome. Through Dutch case studies and an analysis of international developments, it demonstrates that many financial challenges are in fact institutional challenges. The findings offer new insights into how funding, finance, governance, and collaboration can support the wider uptake of Nature-based Solutions.
