Abstract
Acoustic levitation shows promise in the contactless handling of small particles. However, the current methods of placing a particle in the acoustic field proves tedious. In this work, the focus is on an open-open tube that can be used for inserting the particles into the acoustic field. For optimal insertion we investigate the impact of the tube dimensions. We look at the internal diameter and length and their impact on the field strength inside the tube. We construct a formula that describes the conditions for resonance in the tube. This includes a correction for the open end boundary condition and for the attenuation inside the tube. We estimate the impact of each array on the field strength inside the tube. Lastly, we describe the method for transporting a particle through the tube.
