Abstract

We present the results of a combined high-resolution active-source seismic survey along three lines and an ambient-noise survey around one of the lines. The surveys were conducted in the Săcelu region of Southern Romania, an area known for its saltwater accumulations used for therapeutic and relaxation purposes. The saltwater reservoirs are believed to emerge at the surface due to an underlying system of open fractures. We processed the active-source data to obtain depth-converted stacked sections and performed horizontal-over-vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) analysis to obtain a 3D structural model to the main stratigraphic boundaries. The depth-converted stacked sections revealed the presence of fractures that serve as conduits for the upward migration of saltwater. The HVSR curves indicate the presence of a stratigraphic boundary at a shallower depth that not clearly resolved in the depth-converted stacked sections.
