Abstract
This study concerns repeatable wave impacts, including large variations of the interfaces and hydroelastic structural response, using physical and numerical tests at scale. The physical tests consist of a rectangular, oscillating tank that produces a sloshing wave impact against a flexible, overhanging, cantilever plate. The numerical setup consists of a hydrostructural model, where the hydrodynamic part is a two-phase finite-volume Navier-Stokes solver. The structural part is a finite-element discretisation of a beam, which is monolithically coupled to the fluid solver. Comparing physical and numerical results serves both the validation of the numerical model and the interpretation of the physical tests.
