Abstract

Considering the complexity of building processes, and the potential of Information, Communication, and Knowledge Technologies (ICKT) to support these processes, we propose the development of a Web-based Intelligent Modeling for Cooperative Engineering (IMCE) environment for the building sector. Build around an intelligent project model that supports the selection and organization of information according to the needs of the user, various technologies, research efforts, and applications contribute to the design and development of this IMCE environment. In this paper, we present the context with respect to ICKT use in the building sector, define the objectives and approach of the IMCE project, and consider various aspects and research components contributing to this project.
