Abstract
This research has analysed the effect of different holding control strategies for high-frequency bus lines: schedule-based and headway-based holding. An evaluation based on different key performance indicators was conducted, by using a simulation model (BusMezzo). In addition, different operational and contractual difficulties with respect to regularity-driven operations were identified and advise was given on how to implement a headway-based control strategy.
