Abstract

The thesis discusses a number of topics that result in a cost reduction of Ship-To-Shore container gantry cranes. These topics are: 1. The application of a different steel quality grade for the steel structure of Ship-To-Shore container gantry cranes. 2. The application of an open gearing for the crane travelling gear of Ship-To-Shore container gantry cranes 3. The replacement of bolted flange plate connections by welded connections in the portal frame of Ship-To-Shore container gantry cranes
