Vienna-Bratislava-Györ as a laboratory for EU territorial cohesion policy Author Tatzberger, G. Contributor Faludi, A.K.F. (promotor) Faculty Technology, Policy and Management Date 2006-06-16 Abstract Central Europe is facing dramatic changes and huge challenges since the 40 years closed borders opened up. As part of central Europe the Vienna-Bratislava-Gyor area that straddles Austria, Hungary and Slovakia, faces new opportunities for co-operation and integration. The book gives a fascinating view of the practice of European policy making on transnational level by reflecting on how far this area is a laboratory for EU territorial cohesion policy. Different ways of conceptualising and revealing the potential of space on a transnational level are investigated. In addition it tries to explore how the polycentric region is dealing with its territorial potential in order to play through co-operation at a higher league in the competition of places as a core of a possible Global Economic Integration Zone in Central Europe.
