Contributor Sparreboom, D. (mentor) Klooster, O. (mentor) Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science Department Telecommunicatie- en Verkeersbegeleidingssystemen Date 1997-12-08 Abstract A new protocol for transmitting the same data to several user-stations on a broadcast medium has been designed. It uses a regular HIPERLAN (High Performance Radio Local Area Network) protocol to broadcast the data. The difference between the new protocol and the regular HIPERLAN protocol is, that the new protocol provides a transport service which allows the userstations to request the server-station to retransmit the erroneous received data blocks. This enables a fast and robust data transfer between the serverstation and the user-station. To test the performance of the new protocol, a computer simulation program has been developed. The performance found by the simulation is compared with the performance of a regular HIPERLAN protocol which broadcasts data cyclically.
