Pettit, K.G. Institution National Research Council Canada, National Aeronautical Establishment, Flight Research Section Date 1964-07-31 Abstract This report presents preliminary result s of an analysis of V-G-H records obtained during the summer of 1963 from a DC-4M aircraft engaged in precipitatien physics experiments . The results are preliminary in that a report re lating the turbulence ta a detailed meteorological analysis will be issued later. Recording time totalled approximately 85 hours The results show a ratio of 17 :1 in the frequency of occurrence of 10 ft./sec. gusts between conditions of severe and light turbulence and that, for 30 ft./sec. gusts, this ratio increases to 200 : 1. In one condition of severe turbulence a reversal of gust velocity of 70 ft./sec. was encountered in a horizontal distance of 600 ft.
