 Abstract

The invention provides an electrode assembly for a lithium ion battery, the electrode assembly comprising a lithium storage electrode layer on a current collector, wherein the lithium storage electrode layer is a porous layer having a porosity in the range of -35 %, with pores having pore widths in the range of 1-100 [mu]m, and having a porous layer thickness in the range of 5-500 [mu]m. The invention also provides a lithium ion battery comprising such electrode assemblies as anode and cathode. Further, a process for the production is provided.
