We proposed a novel technique to detect the FMCW RadCom signal at the communication receiver and derive the detection and false alarm probabilities of it. Moreover, to achieve fine synchronization between transmit and receive devices, a novel approach based on FMCW RadCom signal time of arrival estimation is proposed. The potential capability of a RadCom system is experimentally demonstrated for the first time by a set of automotive-grade mmWave radars with GPS-based synchronization.
