Sabbatini, M. Gjaltema, T. Versteeg, M.H.J.B. Institution National Aerospace Laboratory NLR Date 1993-08-08 Abstract For execution of experiments in microgravity payloads remote visual access is required. To allow remote image acquisition for high performance cameras, image preprocessing is proposed, i.e. 'smartness* near the camera. The concept of a 'smart telescience camera* is introduced as a framework for analyzing various options. A test bed is introduced which will allow for the study of remote operation of a 1024x1024 pixel CCD camera operating at video frame rate. Microscopy and interferometry have been selected as applications to demonstrate the issues involved.
