The Architecture of the Interior

Abstract

This graduation project deals with the conversion of the former VROM ministry at the Rijnstraat 8 in The Hague. The former ministry is converted into the firt Dutch Rijkskantoor. Bringing the civil servants and the public together is one of the main themes of the design. Another item researched was the possibility for personalization within flexible work spaces. User research was performed using questionnaires filled out by civil servants of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. The project proposes a toned down version of the flexible work space, in which way finding and personalization are dealt with.
