(mentor) Faculty Architecture Department Materialisation Programme SADD Date 2011-06-24 Abstract This graduation product contains the design for a United Nations headquarters for sustainability and environmental issues. This project aims to be a statement: the world needs a leading actor that is able to broadcast an unambigous and authoritative message on sustainability. The building that should be placed adjecent to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, USA, is a new type of icon. It proposes architecture that communicates sustainability without screaming it. I tried to design a building that is durable, flexible and that offers architecture experience and depth. In this way, hopefully, people will come to appreciate it and the lifespan of the building can grow for centuries.
