Some measurements on thermocouples subjected to radiation

The effect of radiation of up to 10 kW/ft² intensity al the accuracy with which 33 s.w.g. chromel-alumel thermocouples can be used to measure the surface temperature of mild steel sheets is examined. The error increases with radiation intensity, and under the conditions of the experiments was found to be about 0.3º C per kW/f².
