Shen, Q. (author), Zhang, F. (author), Dugulan, A.I. (author), van Dijk, N.H. (author), Brück, E.H. (author)In this work, the magnetocaloric effect and negative thermal expansion in melt-spun Fe2Hf0.83Ta0.17 Laves phase alloys were studied. Compared to arc-melted alloys, which undergo a first-order magnetoelastic transition from the ferromagnetic to the antiferromagnetic phase, melt-spun alloys exhibit a second...journal article 2023

Shen, Q. (author), Batashev, I. (author), Ojiyed, Hamutu (author), Zhang, F. (author), van Dijk, N.H. (author), Brück, E.H. (author)The influence of excess Mn on the magnetoelastic ferromagnetic-to-antiferromagnetic transition Tt in the magnetocaloric compound (Mn,Cr)2Sb has been studied. With increasing excess Mn the magnetoelastic transition temperature for (Mn,Cr)2Sb initially increases and then decreases. This trend is accompanied by a...journal article 2022

Boeije, M.F.J. (author), van Eijck, L. (author), van Dijk, N.H. (author), Brück, E.H. (author)We have investigated the crystallographic and magnetic properties of (Mn,Fe)3-δGa alloys. The hexagonal phase is stable between 600 and 700 °C and can be stabilized by quenching to room temperature. Mn3Ga is reported to be off-stoichiometric, but we show that using melt-spinning the stoichiometric compound is attainable....journal article 2017
