The steady increase in air traffic imposes a need for enhanced airport capacity, and the desire to safely reduce existing separation minima. An important capacity constraint factor is the risk imposed by wake vortices. In view of the uncertainties and the difficulties in understanding the wake vortex phenomena, a novel WAke Vortex Induced Risk...

The computation is described of three-dimensional boundary layers in non-orthogonal coordinate systems. The turbulence model is a simple eddy-viscosity formulation. The boundary layer is computed in the region of determinacy of the initial data; no extra information is required along lateral boundaries. An hybrid difference scheme is used....

The three dimensional flow field around delta wings with leading-edge vortex flow can be computed with panel methods. However, secondary flow separation may occur on the leeward surface of the wing. The associated free vortex sheet can be modeled in the potential flow calculation method, if the location of the secondary separation is provided by...

Laminar and turbulent boundary layer calculations were carried out on the leeward side of a flat sharp-edged delta wing. The prediction of laminar-turbulent boundary layer transition and the prediction of secondary separation are addressed in some detail.

The boundary layer on the leeward surface of a slender delta wing (AR = 1, Re = .9*10^6 ) at incidence (a = 20ยบ) was calculated. Both the case of fully laminar flow and the case with artificial boundary layer tripping at the 50 % semi-span location were considered. The results of the present calculations are compared with experiments.

Pressure waves, that are generated when a high speed train enters a tiinnel, can cause annoyance to train passengers (rapid pressure fluctuations acting on the train) and for people living near the tunnel (micro-pressure wave). To improve train passenger comfort the effect of various pressure relieving measures (i.e. shafts and porous walls)...
