Single-Sided Ultrasound Imaging of the Bone Cortex: Anatomy, Tissue Characterization and Blood Flow

In this chapter, we first review the reasons why conventional ultrasonography fails to image the interior of bones. Next we show our recent work on imaging a cortical bone layer with ultrasound.
