Sandwich panels provided with a central saw cut in one face layer were fatigue tested to study crack growth up to a predetermined length. Static residual strength was determined subsequently. Crack growth rates and residual strength are compared with similar data for face sheet material. An increased resistance against both stable fatigue crack...

A design method for transonic shock-free aerofoils using analytic hodograph theory is sketched. A user-oriented outline of the program system that has been developed is presented. A number of examples of computed aerofoils show that the performance of the program system seems to be sifficient for advanced transonic shock-free aerofoil design.

The report starts with a general review of the loading of transport aircraft fuselages and the consequent fuselage skin stresses Taking the F-28 fuselage as an example, the potential weight savings that can be obtained by using ARALL as skin material are assessed. The report ends with conclusions and recommendations

Vlieger, H. (author)
This report presents results of residual strength calculations, carried out on cracked panel configurations of various designs and provided with bonded stiffeners. The calculations were carried out using the computer program BOND. The results of these calculations are compared with results of residual strength tests, performed on panels of...
