The TU Delft Library Roadmap 2020-2024 provides guidance for organisational development and the personal growth of staff. It also aims to show students, researchers, lecturers, colleagues and our Dutch and international network what we intend to focus on in the years ahead. This is why we have involved all of these target groups in the roadmap’s development, both in compiling the information and fine-tuning it. We would like to thank everyone who contributedto this process. We look forward to working with you to make the ideas and action points in this document a reality in 2020-2024. As well as involving these target groups, we have also ensured the roadmap is aligned to the TU Delft Strategic Framework 2018-2024: Impact for a better society. De TU Delft Library Roadmap 2020-2024 biedt handvatten voor ontwikkeling van de organisatie en persoonlijke groei van medewerkers. Tegelijk willen wij als Library hiermee studenten, onderzoekers, docenten, collega’s en ons nationale en internationale netwerk laten zien waar wij de komende jaren op inzetten. We hebben daarom al deze doelgroepen betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van de roadmap, zowel bij het ophalen als het aanscherpen. Iedereen die heeft bijgedragen aan de totstandkoming van de roadmap willen we hierbij bedanken. In this paper, the authors – both of whom are library directors and involved in the contract negotiations with the bigger scientific publishers – present the conditions that formed the Dutch approach in these negotiations. A combination of clear political support, a powerful delegation, a unique bargaining model and fidelity to their principles geared the Dutch to their success in achieving open access. This National Plan Open Science sets out what the Dutch parties involved in creating this Plan are already doing and what they plan to do to grasp the opportunities and at the same time make science even more accessible to others. A major boost is required if these initiatives are to be coordinated and the great ambition realised. That is why this Plan lists the ambitions and provides details of the parties intending to take action, as well as the timeframes within which they believe they can realise their objectives. The key ambitions are: (1) Full open access to publications in 2020: Continue the Dutch approach for all Dutch research organisations and research areas whilst recognising their differences and similarities; (2) To make research data optimally suited for reuse: To set clear and agreed technical and policy-related preconditions to facilitate reuse of research data, including provision of the necessary expertise and support; (3) Recognition and rewards: To examine together how open science can be an element of the evaluation and reward system for researchers, research groups and research proposals; and (4) To promote and support: To establish a ‘clearing house’ for all information regarding all available research support. With the ambitions set out in this plan the Netherlands is responding to the Amsterdam Call for Action on Open Science published in 2016, the conclusions of the Competitiveness Council in May 2016, and to the in the letter to Parliament concerning open science confirmed question by the State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science (January 2017). Open access to publications and optimal reuse of research data are becoming the standard for all knowledge institutes and research areas. How do you become even more successful if you are already successful? That is a question that the TU Delft Library asks itself regularly. In the last few years, it has seen that its transformation into a Library Learning Centre was a good move, but there is more. Even more focus can be on the client, that is the choice that the library made last year. From now on, the customer is the focus in every design process. In this article, we explain how this can be done for the physical space, using different personas (archetypes) that we used in Delft for this process. Together with these personas, the library becomes part of the Living Campus, and in the coming years the library will contribute to bringing the TU Delft's Living Campus concept to reality. ...
