This thesis presents the design and implementation of a protocol that (de-)registers devices part of a Remote Medical Monitoring System (RMMS). RMMSs are designed to relieve some of the strain on health care by monitoring a patient’s well-being without human intervention.The registration protocol makes use of either a device’s onboard Light Emitting Diode (LED) or the position of a static point in its video feed to link a digital device profile to its physical asset. It registers devices in waves,with every wave registering as many devices as can be seen by a central registration camera. The protocol is semi-automatic, requiring some user inputs and verifications. It has been evaluated on its capabilities to handle malicious devices and its registration throughput. The designed protocol can register devices faster than a fully manual system, reaching speeds of less than 5 seconds per device. Malicious devices are successfully removed and have no impact on legitimate devices. Overall, the protocol provides more efficient and scalable registration for RMMS deployments.
