Meeting future climate targets in aviation requires innovative strategies to reduce both CO₂ and non-CO₂ climate impact. This study investigates the emission and climate impact reductions achieved by integrating water injection and sustainable aviation fuels into future geared turbofan engines. Using engine modelling, emission prediction, and climate impact assessment, multiple engine configurations and flight scenarios were evaluated. Emissions of NOx, non-volatile particulate matter (nvPM), CO₂, and H₂O were considered. The climate impact of NOx, CO₂, H₂O, and contrails was assessed using Algorithmic Climate Change Functions (aCCF). Contrail formation and associated climate impact were further analysed using the Contrail Cirrus Prediction model (CoCiP). The results are evaluated against the 2030 and 2035 aviation climate targets.
