The goal of this thesis is to investigate the financial saturation point of stand-alone utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the Dutch electricity market under increasing shares of Renewable Energy Sources. The financial saturation point is defined as the level of BESS deployment beyond which additional investment do not yield sufficient marginal revenues to justify further capacity expansion.
