        Abstract
In this paper, the soil security concept is applied on urban soils. In the SNOWMAN project Balance4P, the main focus was on the integration of subsurface aspects in urban brownfield regeneration. Balancing decisions for urban brownfield regeneration should take into account the three aspects of sustainability: people planet and profit; as well as the processes during the different phases in regeneration projects. It gives concrete recommendations towards common practices of urban planners and subsurface engineers. This paper will guide along the Balance4P framework and the different aspects of “soil security”.
