Abstract

Reset controllers are acknowledged for their potential to enhance performance, like speed and precision in precision motion industries. Existing literature primarily utilizes the classical zero-crossing law in these controllers. This study introduces a novel reset component, termed “fixed-phase reset control”, which employs an innovative reset mechanism distributing multiple resets within a single period under sinusoidal inputs. To analyze the performance of the new controller, we’ve developed a new higher-order sinusoidal describing function analysis method. Through simulations, the accuracy of this analytical approach is verified. Additionally, the results demonstrated the significant improvements of the new reset controller in convergence and tracking capabilities compared to traditional
reset controllers.
