Abstract

Blockchain technology can be transformational to a lot of business sectors. Businesses have attempted to extract value from blockchain technology but failed to do so. An unexplored blockchain business initiative is Tokenized Ecosystems. Startups using Tokenized Ecosystems have the potential to disrubt incumbent businesses. Yet, it is unclear how they should react. A structured approach to assess whether a business should apply Tokenized Ecosystems to their business processes is lacking. This thesis proposes such a structured approach: a Tokenized Ecosystems assessment tool for business processes. A design science approach is used and gathered insights from academic literature are confronted with empirical evidence. Eight of the most outstanding and globally renowned blockchain and tokenization industry experts and thought leaders were interviewed.
