Abstract
Built to Crack is a luxury hotel implemented within the forgotten and enclaved neighborhood of Natzaret, Valencia. The hotel fetishizes the interpersonal relationships and cultural exchange generated by the function of up-close locally-based hospitality, and expressed through inhabiting derelict urban fabric to produce a new kind of immersive luxury. By locally articulating overlooked aesthetics and daily encounters, this contribution utilizes the fashion industry’s capacity to shape the perception of the built environment as a theoretical framework to push existing boundaries of temporal and participatory dwelling.
