Abstract

This abstract describes the research performed to predict the wall temperature distribution on the door of a target-type thrust reverser by means of coupled aero-thermal simulations. The research is performed to obtain the degree of Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the Technical University of Delft. The project is carried out at Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd & Co KG. The main function of a thrust reverser is to decrease the ground-roll distance during landing or an aborted take-off. The thrust reversers are not allowed to be used during certification but add an extra element of safety during these critical flight phases.
