Temperature stable fluids and lubricants: IX. Sym-bis (3-hydroxy-2,2-dimethylpropyl) tetramethyldisiloxane

The synthesis of sym-bis(3-hydroxy-2,2-dimethylpropyl)tetramethyldisiloxane, used earlier for the preparation of a phosphate ester, is described. Same unsuccessful routes to this compound involving the preparation of novel intermediates are also discussed.
