Traffic congestion leads to delays and increased carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Traffic management measures such as providing information on environmental route costs have been proposed to mitigate congestion. Multi-criteria routing dynamic traffic assignment (MCR-DTA) models are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of such measures. This paper presents a simulation-based bi-level optimization method to solve the MCR-DTA problem, which works as follows. Route costs include travel times and emissions, but those are updated inside two different loops. In the inner loop, emission costs are considered fixed; the assignment is performed by updating route travel times, using a traditional DTA tool. Then, in the outer loop, emissions are calculated based on link loads and fed back to the DTA tool, which performs a new assignment. The MCR user equilibrium is found when emissions or predefined generalized costs converge to an equilibrium. The bi-level method is first tested on a small network, showing that the proposed method is able to effectively solve the MCR-DTA problem. Next, the method is applied to a medium-size urban network. The results show that if drivers choose routes based on emissions besides travel time, the average travel time and emissions per vehicle decrease. This occurs because congested links have a higher impact on route costs; hence the equilibrium is pushed away from the single-criteria routing (SCR) user optimum towards the SCR system optimum. Results support the conclusion that informing drivers about CO2 emissions per route can potentially lead to decreased delay and emissions in real networks.@en

In a multimodal public transport network, transfers are inevitable. Planning and managing an efficient transfer connection is thus important and requires an understanding of the factors that influence those transfers. Existing studies on predicting passenger transfer flows have mainly used transit assignment models based on route choice, which need extensive computation and underlying behavioral assumptions. Inspired by studies that use network properties to estimate public transport (PT) demand, this paper proposes to use the network properties of a multimodal PT system to explain transfer flows. A statistical model is estimated to identify the relationship between transfer flow and the network properties in a joint bus and metro network. Apart from transfer time, the number of stops, and bus lines, the most important network property we propose in this study is transfer accessibility. Transfer accessibility is a newly defined indicator for the geographic factors contributing to the possibility of transferring at a station, given its position in a multimodal PT network, based on an adapted gravity-based measure. It assumes that transfer accessibility at each station is proportional to the number of reachable points of interest within the network and dependent on a cost function describing the effect of distance. The R-squared of the regression model we propose is 0.69, based on the smart card data, PT network data, and Points of Interest (POIs) data from the city of Beijing, China. This suggests that the model could offer some decision support for PT planners especially when complex network assignment models are too computationally intensive to calibrate and use. @en

To increase the efficiency and safety of expressway, this paper constructed a new intelligent connected cooperative vehicle infrastructure system and its effectiveness was verifid from both data and practical applications. Firstly, considering the convenience of using intelligent networking systems for public transportation, a new intelligent connected cooperative vehicle infrastructure system architecture was proposed by incorporating mobile communication methods. Then, the new system was illustrated from road side unit (RSU), on board unit (OBU) and data interaction. Additionally, to verify the effectiveness of the system, this paper proposes a two-stage model named Transformer Embedded Clustering- Hierarchical Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (TEC-HDBSCAN) model to identify outliers in the trajectory data of vehicles collected by the system and obtain the speed sequence of the vehicle. Finally, data from actual testing scenarios was collected and a Best Worst Method-Improved Gray Relational (BWM-IGR) model was built to verify the effectiveness of the system. The results show that the established intelligent networked transportation system can effectively guide vehicles and collect data with high accuracy.@en
