The minitrack on engineering organizational processes and systems deals with the development and use of methods and tools for quantitative and qualitative analysis of current business processes, and for design and implementation of new ways of working. The minitrack is aimed at the service industry because high quality processing of information is usually the added value which the industry provides for its customers. The developments in these processes and systems are presented, focusing on concepts for modeling the dynamic behavior of business processes and of those involved in supporting their design and change.

The field of business engineering is described as the development and the use of methods and tools for quantitative an qualitative analysis of current business processes, and for design and implementation of new ways of working. New insight into interesting business engineering frameworks is provided. Both the theoretical background and case evidence that the methods work in real life cases are presented.

This minitrack focuses on the development and use of dynamic models of organizations and their information systems. Discussed in this paper are issues in dynamic modeling, the contents of minitrack which include dynamic models of organizations, methods and tools for modelling the dynamics of administrative organizations, task and agent based organizational modelling and modelling the dynamics of information systems and active databases. The ultimate goal of this paper is to come up with a set of analysis and design principles, methods and supporting tools effective in improving the performance of dynamic organizations in a dynamic world.
